Lightning

These three redwood trees became one because of a lightning strike. Where one tree split, a heart shaped scar remains. Over the course of years, the two trees next to it allowed the broken one to become a part of them, inevitably becoming one.

Lightning struck her and burnt her deep to the core. It was on this night, the great schism of outer and inner occurred. One half of her grew into the next tree while the other half, into another. There is a scar that resides at the place of severance. She keeps it close, not to remind her of the sufferance, but rather, to remind her of the solace obtained. She now knows these kinds of storms didn’t happen to her, they happened for her. These are the kinds that turn three into one. From the great schism of self arose the unification of three.
